HSBC in the region
HSBC's North American businesses are located in the US, Canada and Bermuda. In the US, we operate as HSBC Bank USA, N.A., which is concentrated in New York state, and as HSBC Finance Corporation, a national consumer finance company based in Chicago, Illinois. HSBC Bank Canada and The Bank of Bermuda Limited have important franchises in their respective countries. In Canada, our major businesses - headquartered in Vancouver and Toronto - include HSBC Bank Canada, HSBC Global Asset Management and HSBC Finance Canada.
Sustainability in the region
Corporate sustainability is a shared responsibility across several functions within each country in the region. Based in the United States, the community and philanthropic services team works with colleagues in similar roles in Bermuda and Canada to share best practices on sustainability. A regional Climate Partnership Action Team (CPAT), with representation from all major business and functional units, meets regularly to discuss sustainability initiatives. Canada appointed a senior manager for corporate sustainability in 2007. Overall, there are six individuals who primarily coordinate and direct the development of sustainability initiatives across the region.
