We'll be recruiting around 1,400 graduates across our programmes for 2007-2008.
The application process varies across our programmes. For the majority of our them, you'll need to complete an online application form; for others you'll need to submit a CV/resume. For some regions, we've provided detailed information and guidance on filling in the application form, and the subsequent stages of the recruitment process at the local graduate site. We strongly suggest you read this information.
Each programme offers very different opportunities and it is unlikely that you would be suitable for more than one. Please research the different options available to you at HSBC and then make your choice before applying.
For most of the country programmes, we only accept applications from local nationals or applicants with an existing right to work in the country.
For our international programmes we accept applications from all nationalities. If we select an overseas candidate who requires a work permit, we'll apply for the permit on their behalf.
Please check individual programme criteria to find out more.
There are numerous start dates throughout 2007-2008. Please refer to local country sites for specific details on start dates.
Some of our programmes require you to have a finance-based degree, but many of our programmes accept applicants with degrees in any discipline.
Some programmes offer flexible work options for starting the graduate programme. You can discuss this further with the local recruitment team as needed.
All of the programmes on this site are undergraduate programmes, and the entry criteria are based on this. Whilst further education is beneficial, it is not essential, and your application will be considered in the same way as applicants without further qualifications.
Due to the robust assessment processes currently in place, it's unlikely that you would qualify for a programme after being turned down. We would encourage you to check out other opportunities within the businesses as appropriate.
The business language at HSBC is English and almost all of our programmes require fluency in English. For some of our graduate programmes, additional languages are essential (for example International Management, Insurance and Private Banking). For other programmes (for example International Management) additional languages are beneficial, and certainly an aptitude for learning new languages will be useful. Please refer to the specific programme pages for further information on any language requirements.
While the type of training will depend on the programme you join, the training will be first class and will cover both business and leadership skills. Our approach is to prepare you effectively to take on a leadership role within the business and provide a solid foundation for your future career development.
HSBC offers competitive salaries for all of our programmes. You'll learn more about the salary details during the recruiting process for the programme you choose. Please refer to the local country sites for information about total benefit packages.
The management of our talented employees is at the heart of the Group's competitive advantage, and the need for strong leadership and effective management remains key to our success. You can achieve your personal career aspirations in an environment that rewards employees for strong performance and potential. In addition, we have a clear talent management strategy which aims to target, differentiate and focus investment on our top talent: those individuals who are key to our current and future business success.
All our employees are encouraged and supported to become involved in their local community. There are many projects already in place that you can become involved in, or you can set up your own. We calculate that, in 2005 approximately 280,000 hours of volunteer work were provided by HSBC employees, during working hours.
HSBC is a global organisation with a presence in 83 countries and territories. We actively encourage employees to gain international experience and many of our programmes offer short or long term overseas placements.
Our graduate recruitment teams will visit around 300 universities and colleges worldwide. If we aren’t visiting your campus, don’t be put off – it’s only because we can’t visit everywhere. We do accept applications from all universities and colleges.
