Success for HSBC in Global Finance awards

11 August 2005

Global Finance logoHSBC has topped the rankings in 12 countries and three regions for the quality of its services to global custodians.

The Global Finance magazine sub-custodian awards 2005 measured the performance of providers across eight regions and 35 countries. The winners were chosen by the magazine’s editors and reporters, with input from expert sources.

Sub-custodians provide the products and services that enable investors to capitalise on cross-border investing. The selection criteria included customer relations, quality of service, competitive pricing, technology platforms, post-settlement operations and knowledge of local regulations and practices.

HSBC’s strong presence in Asia and the Middle East helped it secure 15 category titles, putting it ahead of Citigroup, with five awards, and the rest of its competitors by a significant margin.

Arindam Das, Senior Vice-President Middle East, HSBC Securities Services, said: "These outstanding results underline our position in the Middle East as the leading sub-custodian bank.

“We have the largest sub-custodian network in this region and the consistent recognition we have received in these awards and the rankings over the years reflects our customers' satisfaction with our services.”
